As Financial Services Lawyer, you will work closely with the CFO to own Illuvium's full suite of legal and regulatory functions. As an integral part of our growing team based in Sydney, you will be confident with managing the legal and regulatory aspects of an AFSL and act as counsel, consultant and expert. You will set Illuvium's overall legal strategy and manage all its legal matters. The financial world is expanding into new realms and technologies. With blockchain and NFTs at the forefront, we are looking for people excited by this growth industry and willing to plunge into this new and exciting world of games, technology and finance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Illuvium's legal strategy and all legal matters with the CFO.
  • Work closely with the executive team to advise and support complex regulatory business matters and issues domestically and internationally. Monitor emerging legislation and regulation, and advise the executive team on regulatory developments.
  • Meet the executive team's commercial objectives through negotiating, advising, drafting and reviewing agreements.
  • Proactively collaborate with key stakeholders in all departments, including finance, development, marketing and partnerships in a globally distributed workforce, to research and advise on applicable local laws while identifying and resolving current and future issues that require compliance management.
  • Create, develop and implement legal policies and procedures.
  • File corporate registrations, licensing, and trademarks.
  • Represent Illuvium directly and manage external counsel in regulatory enforcement or litigation matters if needed.
  • Educate policymakers on crypto industry development and advocate for crypto-friendly policy changes.
  • Assist CFO with corporate matters, including regulator interaction, review of bylaws, and formation of various business entities.
  • Provide general assistance with HR and employment matters.

Job Requirements

  • Hold a practising certificate with experience managing the legal and regulatory aspects of an Australian Financial Services License (AFSL).
  • At least three years of in-house experience at either an investment company or a company owning financial products or licenses.
  • Financial services relevant Bachelors Degree.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work in a lightning-paced company with changing priorities​.
  • Reliable, extremely detail-oriented, and a problem-solver.
  • Tech-savvy and excited about blockchain, new technologies and practices.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, able to take charge and get things done despite the unknowns.
  • Fluent in English​.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of Cryptocurrency technologies and the industry in general.
  • Financial services relevant Master's Degree.
  • Tech-savvy and excited about blockchain, new technologies and practices.
