Working directly with the Head of Finance and CEO, you will help build the foundation that will establish MakersPlace as a strong ethical and compliance leader in the NFT space. You will collaborate closely with the entire executive team and provide guidance to the organization regarding all legal matters. As the regulatory requirements for the NFT space continues to change, you will be a forward strategic thinker and help MakersPlace evolve beyond the status quo of operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Contract creation, maintenance, and review of all agreements with MakersPlace including creators, collaborators, vendors, and service providers.
  • Lead regulatory compliance efforts including but not limited to AML and FinCEN standards.
  • Collaborate with all departments to ensure minimal legal risks both internally and externally on key projects.
  • Management of all public legal documentation including terms of service, privacy policy, and FAQs.
  • Guide the organization and its members on internal legal matters such as employment contracts, equity grants, and corporate governance.
  • Drive legal discussions with stakeholders and future capital raising efforts.

Job Requirements

  • Law degree from an accredited law school
  • 12+ years working in a corporate legal department within a fast-paced, fast-evolving and dynamic environment, preferably in technology.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort with technology tools such as Discord or Slack.
  • Knowledge of AML, FinCEN, and KYC regulations specifically in the crypto/NFT industry.
  • Ability to influence peers and leadership to drive key decisions.
  • Sharp business acumen, including the ability to assess risk.
  • Exemplary integrity, patience, and resilience.
  • Self starter and drive to be a department leader.
